Reflection
Midnight black against a sunrise red,
And all shades in between
Turn the empty eye of meaning
Into something that sees through
The feeling of nature’s love.
Looking in,
I see the blades of grass
Separately bent as to
Reveal a deeper dimension-
A flower here and there
Sparks different emotions-
They teach the oldest child
The sunshine’s cheer
As they humbly smile-
Even in rain.
They teach the heartless soul
The meaning of love-
As room is always left
For the most neglected weed.
I see the never-ending sky
As it tries to hide behind the clouds-
But the clouds are always on their way
To bring shade to someone else’s life.
Between this boundless world
And the heart with which I look-
I see myself-
Searching to bring life
To those who have never breathed,
Thriving on hope,
Becoming meaningful-
To those who desperately seek change,
Weathering the path by which I walk-
Content because it molds
My feet only.
As I reach my hand forward-
Ripples from the contact
Of the smooth water and my finger,
Spread unevenly around,
And distort the view of my paradise,
Reminding me that
Life changes every moment
Creating new landscapes
With each blink of the eye.
The images that were
Once a part of me
Are left behind
To rest in the heart of my soul.
